Recently Kevin Rudd announced and issued a large sum of money to a lot of people within Australia. A Public relations officers job in this situation is critical as such a large decision being made by the government will receive a lot of praise and criticism from certain sectors in the public. Therefore the role of a Public Relations officer in this situation is to help promote the campaign in the eye of the public as something that is beneficial for them and not let the view of the public shift from that. It is also their job to answer questions and debate with groups in the public sector that wish to debate or discredit such actions by this government and whether this campaign is good for the Australian government and public, or whether it is a bad idea.
Public relations officers can do many things to help market this idea, advertising is the most important. For example, advertisements in newspaper or magazines with written words and photos that help improve the image of this image would work well. For example, photo’s of families spending this money with large smiles on their faces and quotes of these people saying certain things like “This money has helped our family overcome debt” or “This money has allowed our family to buy a new barbeque for entertaining”, words that relate and connect with Australian people, moments and things that the government would like to hear from Australian people that would guarantee their campaign is a success.
A Public relations officer can also initiate communication with groups of people that have doubts about the campaign would also help. For example, cup of weeks before the advertiser have throw daylight on the government cost $42bn but part of this money been payed to the dead people and the people who are not in Australian anymore. These things make the Australia people turn angrier to the government. In 28 May the ABC news have an interesting article to debate this police. In this article, the author sustained Mr Hockey’s point "The fact that 16,000 dead people and 27,000 people living overseas are receiving $900 cheques from the Rudd Government to stimulate the Australian economy says everything about their financial incompetence and their disregard for taxpayers' money." The government have this package plan is stimulate the economy of Australia. But the money in the package going to the dead people and people who are in oversea is cannot stimulate the economy of Australia.
From the two ways to discourse a event is the characteristic of the Public relations.
